Removing smell from leather sandals?
When i get my sandals wet, leave them dry naturally and then apply a cream to put some moisture back into the leather, this also removes the small. If you go into water a lot in your sandals I suggest you buy rope sandals. If they smell after wearing them you just wash them in a washing machine.
Reply:Just dust some baking soda and leave it over night, just make sure the sandals are completely dry.
Reply:Hi,you can use cornmeal.Just sprinkle cornmeal over it and leave overnight.The cornmeal absorbs the scent.

Wearing leather sandals as a vegan?
As stated before, I will soon be vegan (I%26#039;ve taken steps of cutting things out of my diet 1 by 1 because I take this very seriously as a lifelong commitment). I%26#039;ve also made the choice to never purchase the skin or fur of animals again. (And I haven%26#039;t for over 2 years.)
I%26#039;ve got these really comfortable sandals that I%26#039;ve had for 6 years. The tops are leather. I believe that throwing them away would be wasteful and disrespectful to the animal that died for them, and I believe that in my care they could last decades. So I%26#039;m thinking of ways to reconcile them with my moral imperative, since a vegan wearing leather is pretty hypocritcal.
What if I carve the words %26quot;never again%26quot; into the front straps (quite visibly) so that I can use them as a discussion piece for what motivated my change? Would this be self-righteous? What if I don%26#039;t preach about them, and simply reply %26quot;what do you think?%26quot; to anyone who asks, and then ask if they would like to learn more?

I think carving words into would be a step towards preaching and is unnecessary. Fake leather looks like real leathers, so nobody but you will actually know it is real.
And anybody who would challenge you for wearing the shoes is an ******. But if they do an answer of I bought them b4 I was a vegan should suffice, if they persist after that you don%26#039;t want to be acquainted with that person.
Reply:If you already have the leather sandals, I do not see what benefit would come from not wearing them. Additionally, I would only write on them if you would prefer that. Don%26#039;t feel you have some moral responsibility that you have to deface sandals you bought prior to becoming vegan.

Adding any sort of message would deface them and come across as arrogant. If someone asks, explain your reasoning. I had a leather jacket for awhile that I bought before being vegan. My husband, who works for a popular animal rights group told me to put a patch on it that said Vegan. People will never know. You can buy them from Peta.

I have a pair of leather sandals that i love. Im 9 months pregnant and they are about the only pair of shoes that I can wear comfortably. They got a bit wet the other day because of rain and now they smell. I dont know if its a bacteria or what.

I live in Florida and I%26#039;m trying to break them in, but I hear it%26#039;s supposed to rain today and tomorrow. I think these will be fine in puddles and such, but I just need to see that the colors won%26#039;t run or anything. And can these sandals be worn to the beach? My dad wouldn%26#039;t originally let me buy these sandals because I needed %26quot;water sandals%26quot; like Teva. Are these leather sandals good for going to the beach or something like that?

Why do my leather sandals get a white "bloom" on them?
I%26#039;ve only noticed this the past 3 or 4 years. I have 3 pair of leather sandals that develop a whitish, kind of greasy-feeling %26quot;bloom%26quot; if I don%26#039;t wear them for a few days. Looks kind of like salt stains. It wipes right off, although when it%26#039;s built up over the winter it takes some rubbing to get rid of. There%26#039;s no odor to it. These are heavier, slide sandals with rubber or synthetic soles; one pair by Dr. Marten, one by Skechers, not sure about the other. They%26#039;re my everyday shoes in warm weather. I live in Michigan and my house is not especially damp or warm; nor do I have any foot problems like excessive perspiration or athlete%26#039;s foot. This doesn%26#039;t happen to other leather footwear... just these sandals. Sure would like to know what this is!
